The grief of a failed IVF cycle

Hello all. I wanted to share this picture with you. My profession is a mental health counselor. This is a roadmap I hand out to clients who are grieving. It depicts that while the stages of grief idea in essence can provide clarity while grieving, it is not cyclical and a smooth course.
Many of you know that Monday my beta blood work indicated my first IVF cycle failed. Monday and Tuesday I was devastated and was most often on my floor sobbing. Today I find myself very angry. Angry that it appeared the stars aligned. Angry that it didn’t work out. Angry that two embryos don’t get to live a life. Angry at God. Angry at myself. Just angry. It’s important to feel your feelings. Allow them to just be. Whatever you’re feeling it’s OK.
