Almost ready to call it quits

Mila

After pumping and giving formula to my first. I thought this second time around would be better. My son latched a little better or so I thought. He is 2 weeks 5 days and so far we’ve had to take him to the hospital for jaundice. His levels were high enough that he almost needed to get the blue light therapy. Luckily he was getting some formula and that helped clear it up.

Yesterday i went to the breastfeeding clinic and was told my son’s weight is not high enough he is dropping below his weight curve. My supply is low and he is not latching well. I now need to breastfeed, give him 2oz formula and pump at every feeding. Doctor wants him to gain an oz a day until next appointment.

Well he’s latching is not going well, he pushes away from me so he is not getting enough nipple inside his mouth. Now that he is getting the formula, he is sleeping 2-4 hours so not sure if’s that supposed to help with supply. I need to avoid using the nipple shield so my nipples hurt.

This is all so stressful that less than 24 hours in my fiancée has already tot me I don’t have to keep going, we can just give him formula.

I feel like I’m in this alone even if he means well. Maybe this is all too much and I should just stop and pump what I can and give him formula as well. My 3 year old is also missing me since I’m always with the baby....
