Umbilical cord?? What to do??

I was feeling super pregnant and nostalgic yesterday and pulled out my son’s memory box while my mom was here. He was born in 2016. We have his hospital blanket his first pair of shoes, first hair clippings from first haircut etc. I pulled out a ziplock baggie with his umbilical cord stump and my mom gasped lol i was like whats wrong?! And she said “why didnt you bury it?? Someones gonna curse your son!!” And im like what the heck?! I want to keep it in his memory box!! And she gave me the most disapproving look EVER!! Lol anyone elses family have weird superstitious or wives tales about after baby is born? I plan on keeping baby girl’s stump after shes born too.
