Unexpected pain med free

I went in on may 31st to be induced due to gestational diabetes at 39w1d. It started a little rough! The original plan was to start pitocin and get the ball rolling. However the doctor decided to do a dose of cytotec first. After the 4 hour wait period, I decided I wanted to try a cervical Foley instead of another dose of cytotec and to start pitocin an hour or so after the Foley was placed. Around 3 PM the doctor came in to place the Foley and I decided to shower since I'm a first time mom, who knew how long I'd be in labor after starting the pitocin. Fast forward 30 minutes later I started bleeding pretty heavily after having the Foley placed. Got back into bed, the nurse called the doctor, he came to check things out and the Foley was out! I was dilated to a 4! We started pitocin around 5, and I asked for an epidural since things started to get intense. However I had back surgery a few years ago, and I soon found out that apparently that effects if they're able to get one placed. Anesthesia who was on call stepped out for an hour so I had to wait. He finally arrived at 7pm, and there began the 50 minute ordeal of trying to get the epidural placed. Finally I decided I needed to use the restroom and take a break. Between the contractions, position needed for placement, and all the pokes in my back I was exhausted and needed to gather myself again. The nurse checked me and I was still only a 4! I felt defeated. Surely I should have made some progress with how intense the contractions had gotten, and how close together. They were coming about every 2-3 minutes and lasting 60-90 seconds each. About 10 minutes after being checked I began feeling pressure so I was check again and finally I made progress I was a 7! Unfortunately for me this meant no epidural, and no iv pain meds. The nurse suggested laughing gas, and I jumped on that option however before I could get it the doctor came in to check me and break water. I was an 8.5 when he check me! This was around 9:10pm told me it could be a couple more hours. However within 5 minutes I HAD to push. The nurse told me not to push and she checked me again, I was 9.5 cm and she told me to push once to see if we could get rid of the rest of the cervix. And we did! It was finally baby time, everything after that happened so quickly, the doctor came rushing back in, I was being told not to push yet. Once the bed was broken down it was go time! Two pushes later and my little man arrived at 9:23pm 6lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. Completely pain med free. It was not what I had planned but I'm just glad him and I were safe and healthy. I did hemorrhage slightly, but my delivery team was amazing and got it under control quickly.
