So, I'm sitting here.. enjoying my evening
Intro, Setting the mood:
It's like dusk.. I'm sitting on my patio, enjoying a peaceful evening, Its rained the last few days, and we've desperately needed it.. because y'all.. my grass was thirsty as fuck... Like dry brittle, didn't have to mow for an entire week, type of needed it.. because we aren't going to water our grass..but we water our plants by hand.. watering grass is stupid.. but when it rains, gah that grass turns so green and beautiful and fluffy, and I've been cutting the grass a little taller, and I keep that shit... MAINTAINED, can't stand uneven-unmowed grass.. but I don't mind if the grass is a little dead.. it comes right back after a good rain.
Body: it got me thinking...
So, I'm thinking about summers in the country vs. Summers in the city... And the fucking bugs that come with them... And wondering if it's this is common all over?
Here's an example of what its like in the areas I've grown up in.. and around for during many summers.
1. City- state triad in a major city: not that many bugs.. but when you see one they are like fucking ridiculously huge and or insane looking..I'm talking like a huge ass, wild looking spider, type of thing... And mosquitos.
2. Country limits, in a small rural city in the Sandhills of the state, and like fucking flies and man eating ants, wolf spiders.. I did see a black snake the other day... But no mosquitos.. and my in-laws find like baby bunnies and squirrels all the time.. but I have a family of hummingbirds that visits everyday.. which is pretty sweet... And one big bunny that hangs out in the front yard from time to time and has let me feed it, as in, trust me enough to put food on the ground and I can walk away and he will let me watch him while he eats it kind of feeding.. but I never had that type of thing happen to me in the city limits, my in-laws live deeper in the country while we live in a development.
3. Costal, in a small town on the outskirts of a large city: rolley pollies.. mosquitos.. more ants, lots of snakes, the occasional crocodile, seagulls.
Anyways you catch my drift, It made me wonder if... That's pretty much like it is all over the place.. but different bugs/reptiles/animals.. wild life in general.. that city, rural, costal and mountains.. have the same things, just different.
My husband thinks this sounds ridiculous.. because he doesn't understand what I'm asking.. and I don't know how to articulate it in any other way.. but if you get what I'm saying.. feel free to share what your experience is and how it differs in your state without actually saying the name of your state.. so that it can be as vague and unbiased as possible to describe what the outdoors bring to your yard in the summer, what wildlife do you see in your natural habitat around you?
