Should recycling become mandatory?

Question

(For those who live in areas where it already is, answer whether you agree with this rule or not) 
Piggy backing off the post below, the reasons for recycling are pretty obvious, but I’m curious to see how many people actually agree that it should be mandatory. 
Looking online there are still a large number of people who insist it should remain voluntary

Yes and it is in Austria and I’ve never met anyone having an issue with it. We are destroying our planet and sorry if people can’t be responsible enough to do it by themselves then something has to change. Ill add pictures about how it works here.

In the area I live in they stopped taking glass... It's so frustrating.. but I mean I can easily take my glass to the Walmart and put it in their bins or my husband takes it to his work... It's just real awkward standing there with a baby on your hip, unloading empty wine bottles into a public glass recycling bin 😭😂

This is an example of a recycling center here where i live, It’s like a damn airport for trash lol. 
There are signs that show where to throw each item according to their material.

It’s mandatory here too. It’s working amazing and I have absolutely no problems with it. The picture that Herbert included is exactly how it works here too. I honestly hope others countries make it mandatory too.

Recycling has been mandatory in my area for going on ten years now and honestly it freaks me out that other places don’t care about recycling
We have massive reusable bags to put our stuff in. Blue for plastic/tin, orange for cardboard, white for paper. The bin men come round and empty our bags. We have black boxes for glass and brown boxes for food waste. Food waste is the only thing that is bagged in little single use bags, but they’re made out of easily degradable plastic. It is a shame because things like black plastic and films etc aren’t able to be recycled yet it’s on everything. Our black bags aka the stuff that can’t be recycled is collected every fortnight and you’re only allowed two bags to be collected. If you have a large family that number does increase. You also are allowed an extra black bag at Christmas because of wrapping paper 
It’s not an inconvenience and it helps save the planet. You also don’t realise how much plastic, tin, and cardboard that you use until you see it broken down like that. My local system is incredible, but now we need to put pressure on the government to ban single use non recyclable plastics

It’s pretty big here in Canada. We think recycling is important.  Where my sister lives in BC they use cameras to look at your garbage as they dump it.  If they find something that shouldn’t be in there you will get a fine.  They’re not quite as intense where I live in Alberta but we still have tons of recycling bins, and mostly everyone recycles.  We have some of our American family here a few weeks ago for a wedding, and they even mentioned how different it was to see all the recycling bins around.  I remember last time we were visiting them, my mom asked them if they had a recycling spot for an empty jar she had and my aunt said they just throw everything away in the garage.  I’m sure lots of Americans do recycle, but I don’t think it’s made into as big of a deal there.

I don’t have a problem with it. I can see it potentially creating work as well. Because I’m sure it’s going to require ppl to regulate where the waste is coming from

It'd be great if it was mandatory. But I highly doubt it would happen anytime soon where I live. There's literally no where to recycle anything where I live. There's not even little plastic only trash cans that you see in stores in other places. The closest recycling center is 50ish miles away, and there's been talk of it closing down soon too. 
So if it were to become mandatory, itd take a lot of time, effort, money, and support to make it happen, which I just don't see happening anytime soon

Yes! We should learn from Japan! They have the best recycling system that they take VERY seriously they legit recycle everything. It sickens me that we don’t do this here in the US and that it’s difficult to do so.

Yes. It is mandatory where I live. In rural areas we have no garbage pick up just recycling. And by rural I mean most properties over 1 acre that’s more than 30 mins out of a major metropolitan city.
