Testing before period

So apparently it’s considered to be really early to get a positive if you get a positive before a missed period..like 2 weeks early...is that why some people don’t get a positive until a week or two after their missed period? Mine’s due tomorrow and I’d be really shocked if I didn’t get pregnant from this month since I had sex pretty much every day leading up to ovulation.
