Is this normal?

I had my first ob appointment today at 9w3d. They took some blood & went over family history. My next appointment is at 15w & the nurse said she wasn’t positive if they would do an ultrasound/ listen to the heartbeat. I feel like I should have had one by then? Or am I wrong?

The one at 12-13 weeks is optional - but depending on your office it may not be offered as the blood tests are more reliable.  Same with the early/dating ultrasound - it’s not always standard practice. The 20 week anatomy scan is really the only guaranteed one.   They should be able to listen to the heart beat by 15 weeks though.  I had my 15 week appointment today and that’s really all we did.

You should get one at 12_13, weeks to test for down sydrome. I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks 5 days then again 13+2 an just found out im having a boy. You should deff get a ultrasound before hand

Mine won't listen for a heartbeat until 12 weeks. And then not ultrasound until 12-14 weeks. 
I'm 10 weeks now and it's so frustrating to wait! Ive had 2 other appointments; one to pee in a cup and confirm pregnancy, and one last week to do blood work. Honestly I'm disappointed. But every clinic/OB does it differently.

I had a dating scan and an ultrasound for genetic testing by then, but I know neither are mandatory and a lot of women don’t get an ultrasound until the anatomy scan around 18-22 weeks. You’ll most likely hear the heartbeat through a doppler machine at your appointment though
