Should i tell my boyfriend?

I have been dating my boyfriend for 4 and a half years. We are currently long distance because he has an summer internship in another state. When we've talked about it before, he told me he didnt want me to get a vibrator (because it was intimidating to him and he was afraid that id like it more than him) well with him being gone for so long, i bought myself a clit massager. Do I tell him and possibly upset him or should i keep it to myself? I think since its not a toy i would insert, it would be less intimidating but i dont want to hurt him or have him think i enjoy something more than him because thats obviously not true.
