Potty training books?

Question

I’m looking to get a potty training book. My son is 2 years and 4 months. I truly believe he’s like a bit more than halfway ready. I’m pregnant with #2 and due in Jan. Hoping to only have 1 in need of diapers by then. I’m looking at these two books. Has anyone read them or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

I personally found the “oh crap” one a piece of crap. The entire book is her repeating herself in different ways. 
Personally best thing I did was I read so Sooooooooo many blogs on Pinterest and hose helped me. 
I have a 4yr, 2.5yr and a 15 month old with twins otw in November. Up until 1 month ago they were ALL in diapers 😳.  We tried for so long to potty train our oldest. We started with the 3 day naked training when he turned 20 months; that didn’t go well. Caused him to hold his bowel movements to the point he wouldn’t poop at all. Got him so constipated we had to do suppositories which led him to fear being naked and fear going poop which made it all worse. So we took a break. We attempted numerous times after that. Bought fancy underwear he loved, bought candy for treats. We even took diapers away and said nope! He refused to go in the potty (pee or poop). 
Finally last month I started simple. I started putting EVERYONE (even the baby) on a toddler potty after every time they woke, every 30 minutes, etc. I would then hand them their iPads and a bowl of something sweet or a sucker. Something that held their interest and for a longer period of time so they had more time on the potty. After about a 3 days of doing this my oldest peed in the potty. I made a HUGE DEAL out of it and he got to pick a new toy from the potty toy bin. From there he just started doing it. 
The main thing is your child may appear as if they are ready. Have the signs but if they arent ready, if they don’t want to then they won’t. 
We are now trying to teach our 2.5 yr to join in and he’s currently in the “no, I don’t want to stage”.

I never read a book. I looked up blog posts and talked with other moms. It seemed to work.

It's great that you are educating yourself on the process! I haven't read these books but I am very familiar with the 3 day method. It works when you wait for the signs of readiness. I'm sure the book will address that. It's important to understand that any big changes can cause regression. It's best to be prepared for that possibility when your new baby arrives.
