Are you a single mom?

Question

If yes, how did dating work out for you with a baby? Looking to shine light onto my newfound single-ness. 😔 Currently single and 8 weeks pregnant and I don’t want to even think about dating until my baby is at least a few months old. I want to devote all my time and effort to him/her. But I can’t help but catch myself saying “nobody is going to want me” and that’s probably the loneliest thing I’ve ever felt... 😪

My son’s biological father basically just decided he didn’t want a family when I was about 18 weeks. I didn’t date again until my son was 1.5ish. My now bf, Zach and I started dating May 2018 and my son turned 2 in June. We were friends for several months before and it took me 3 months to even send him a friends request on Facebook. (My mamas doing, she knew him from work) 
Anyway, I didn’t want to just date anyone. I wanted to make sure the person I brought into my sons life was serious about staying. I didn’t want to play games. I wanted an honest relationship. I had talked to a few guys before Zach but nothing ever become of it. Mainly, because I didn’t feel like the understood the responsibilities of having a child. I wanted them to be willing to step into the fatherly role if and when the relationship got to that point. I wanted to make sure the guy knew my son came first. 
I also still had a few relationship issues too. I had a lot of guilt! I wanted someone who would treat me how I’ve always wished to be treated! 
And I’m so glad I did wait for my right guy. He took to my son and my son took to him. (Which was a shock because my son never liked men) anyway, it wasn’t long after we started dating that my son started calling Zach dada. He knows both else! At first, Zach was worried he would do something wrong because he has never really had to take care of a young child before. However it was long before he was changing the diapers like a pro. We are now over a year into our relationship and I couldn’t be happier! 
Dating is hard as a single parent it truly is! But it’s important for you to be happy too. Don’t settle on just anyone. Don’t compromise on your needs or your child’s! The right guy will come in and just be there. The next thing you know both you and your child are happier than ever. The right guy will see the strength it takes to get through each day as a single parent! 
If I can go from basically unsure if I’ll ever met the right guy to a year later laying next to the love of my life! So can you! It’s hard to think it will actually happen but when it does; you will never look back. 
I did get lucky that the first guy I dated after was the one. So don’t feel discouraged if you don’t get your forever guy on the first try!

I have a one year old and currently am getting back into the dating scene. I make it clear the dude knows I am first and foremost a mom and if they want to hang out that's fine. If they don't thats also fine. I met a guy who seems really cool but I don't want him meeting my son until I know we are serious. So I just get a babysitter for a few hours when we want to do something.

I met my now boyfriend while I was pregnant. We spent so much time together and were basically together, but I just wanted to go really slow. I didn’t want to rush into things. I didn’t want to complicate the relationship as I definitely did not want my boyfriend taking on a father role. It was just too soon and didn’t seem like a good idea to me. Having a child does not mean you’ll be single forever! You can date and be in relationships and there are definitely men out there who will want you.

I was a single mom right before my daughter turned 2. There are many guys willing to take on the challenge of dating someone with a child. From personal experience, men raised by single moms were the best partners. They were very understanding of the fact my child came first and could easily connect with her. My husband was raised by a single mom.
