Swollen feet after c section. Normal?

Is it normal for my feet to be swollen 4 days after my c section? My feet never swelled during pregnancy and my mother n law said that it’s not normal since I didn’t swell none during pregnancy. Any help is appreciated.

Totally normal. They normally give pitocin after delivery to control bleeding and that is an anti diuretic. Plus they give a lot of IV fluids in the OR to help with blood pressure and blood loss. Both those things cause swelling, not to mention you are probably not moving around as much as normal due to pain and having a newborn. Just drink a lot of water and elevate your feet when sitting or laying down. Congratulations on new baby!

My feet were SO swollen after my c section on the 12th, and I also had a headache. I was readmitted three days after we got home to the hospital for postpartum preeclampsia and it was super scary. If you have alarming swelling, a  headache that wont go away, take your blood pressure ASAP! If it’s over 140 call your doctor!  This is what my feet looked like On the way back to the hospital vs. after I was treated. I’m so thankful we caught it ❤️

I had my left foot swell after c-section, nothing seemed to help, low and behold, after about a week, drinking lots of water, keeping it elevated on the arm of my couch, it has returned to normal.

Normal. I was told it will get worse before getting better. Drink plenty of fluids and put your feet up when you can. Avoid salt as well.

I was the exact same way! Didn’t recognize my own feet or ankles after C section but had no swelling during pregnancy. My Dr.  just told me to try to walk around a little to get circulation going. After about a week I was back to normal. Mine also could have been because I stopped taking medication for high blood pressure after giving birth.

It’s normal. My feet didn’t swell at all during pregnancy, but the pitocin made me swell up like crazy. I was swollen for about a week after delivery but I woke up one morning and was just completely back to normal.

My feet were swollen in the hospital after my c-sections from all the fluid they pump you with but I’m pretty sure they were mostly back to normal by the time I got home. Might be normal for you, though!

I’ve got really swollen feet today too. I gave birth vaginally and just had gas and air. I’m going to check with someone tomorrow but I googled it and apparently it’s normal  so I’m not too worried
