My husband thinks...

La

My husband thinks I acted like a child tonight. One of his coworkers, who I’ve been around probably 3 times, turned 60. His family was throwing a party for him. I am a HUGE homebody, and prefer staying home with our 10 month old son on weekends. I hate social events. That being said, my husband insisted my son and I come to this party with him. Keep in mind, he’s been to this guy’s house on weekends several times by himself. I told my husband I really wasn’t in the mood, but would for him.

The guy lives about 45 mins from us. It started at 5, and we were there right at 5. We’d said we were only going to stay a little while. Several other families came, and there was drinking involved...which I didn’t know this guy has a liquor cabinet at his house and likes to drink. So, everyone was basically get buzzed or drunk. My husband was eating and mingling with a couple who was so drunk at our table they weren’t even making sense. The guy, who we didn’t know, came over and kissed our son on his forehead. Several men who were coming up to my husband to say hello, completely ignored my son and I. They just shook hands with him and walked off. My husbands coworker fixed my husband a drink, saying I could drive home.

My husband had a drink and got buzzed, and I didn’t eat any dinner because I fed my son while my husband ate and then he started crying, because he was tired. We’d been there a few hours at that point. My husband wanted to stay into the night, and his coworker just told me to lay our son on the couch. Uh, no...it was past his bedtime and we still had a 45 min drive. Everyone kept drinking, and I was ready to go. I guess since having kids, I just don’t have a tolerance for drunk people but secondly, our son is 10 months and doesn’t need to be out until 9 or 10pm in my opinion.

My husband thinks I acted childish, but I told him from the get go I didn’t want to go. I even told him I feel like the only reason he wanted me there was so he could drink and have a ride home. My husband claims this is ridiculous. Did I overreact?
