Midwife or Doctor?

Question

I think I want to go with a midwife for my labor and delivery but I want to know what different experiences with both other mommas have had! 
Also, I am wanting a no drug labor or 'natural'.

I had a doctor with my first and a midwife with my second. My experience was pretty much the same with both. I loved them both. Both were unmedicated but that was not by choice and they both asked me if I wanted an epidural when I arrived.

A midwife can offer you a variety of options for your birth such as at home, at a birthing center, or a hospital setting. While o.b's tend to work out of hospitals. You can definitely find a midwife or o.b who supports natural birthing and guide you through the process. I wanted a midwife but they are in short supply and I was wait listed. I ended up with my current o.b who hasn't so much as discussed a birth plan with me and I'm 37 weeks. My advice is just to find someone you are comfortable with and if you end up with someone you don't click with don't be afraid to switch.

If you are wanting a more natural labor then I would for sure go the midwife route! They are just as educated as doctors with regard to delivery and childbirth, they just can’t do high risk pregnancies (like severe preeclampsia). I’m with a midwife practice through a major hospital in Cleveland... if I will end up needing a section or whatever, there are doctors on call that can perform those types of interventions.
