Dentist visit...

Not sure if I’m posting this in the right group.

I’m looking for any advice I can get from a current dentist or someone who used to be a dentist.

Back story, I’ve never had good dental hygiene, since my parents never stressed it. I’ve been to a dentist probably all of 3 times in my life... my parents never took me and then once I turned 18 I was too embarrassed to go alone, as my teeth are very crooked, and I have quite a few cavities and chipped and broken teeth... I’m now 21 and still haven’t made an appointment as I didn’t have dental insurance and once again I was too embarrassed. I know it will be a lot of work, but I’m worried I’ve hit a point of no return. I’m currently pregnant so that is pushing me to get dental care since I know it’s important not only for mom but for baby.

I’m just unsure of what they will do or if there is really any help for me, I’m really embarrassed and scared to go for fear of judgment. So I was wondering if any of you have any advice on what to do (obviously make an appointment ASAP) but I was wondering what kind of journey I might be looking forward too...

thanks in advanced.
