Throat infection?

I wasn't sure if these were contagious or not. I searched online and I read that they were. My SO has had one for about a week and luckily my daughter and I haven't caught it. However his friend is bringing their newborn baby later and I asked if that would be okay considering he had a throat infection and he seemed a bit offended. Am I wrong for thinking they are contagious and considering the baby?

No, you’re not wrong. The courteous thing is not to expose a newborn until you’ve been symptom free for at least two weeks. 
When my best friend’s son was born, my husband was sick. Although I wasn’t symptomatic, I decided to wait to see if I got sick... sure enough, two weeks later I was sick. 
I didn’t meet my friend’s son until he was about 8 weeks old, but I also didn’t expose him to an illness that could have been much more serious for him than for me.
