Inconsiderate gift giver bf

My bf and I have been dating for almost a year and a half. My birthday was last month, and my boyfriend got me a book that holds quite a lot of meaning to my childhood. Here’s the catch, his mom gave him the idea. I saw a text come through a couple days before my bday from his mom with the pic of the book, “this might be a good gift for her”, was what the text said. That is all he got me, and a card. I was a little disappointed, considering we’ve been dating for so long, and for my last bday all he got was a necklace his sister picked out, no card or anything. And yes, for him I do try and make my gifts thoughtful. He always gets very thoughtful gifts for other people, even out mutual friends.
