time of taking birth control affecting pregnancy

Lauren

I’ve been on the combined pill for a little over four months now. For the first three months I took it in the morning, but for the last month I decided to take it in the evening in hopes of taking it at the exact same time each day. I do tend to wake up at different times meaning I was more likely to take it at different times. In attempts to take it in the evening, I sometimes did forget to take it and on two occasions missed my pill - forcing me to take two the next day. When I first spoke to my doctor about going on the pill, she said that this isn’t a problem but it shouldn’t be something to do regularly, as missed pills can increase chances of pregnancy. However, she did reassure me that this wouldn’t be of concern and said that even unprotected sex should be okay even after missing a pill and taking two the next day. Moving more towards the point, I was meant to start my period this morning but I haven’t yet had it. I know the day is not yet over, but ever since starting the pill I’ve always got it in the morning. I wasn’t aware that taking the pill at a different time each day could affect this - so I’m just wondering whether this is the case as I really don’t want to be pregnant. Any advice would be really appreciated, and I do understand that my worries is probably just me overreacting but I just need more information and reassurance.
