Are wedding announcement cards tacky?

Fiancé and I could only afford to have about 20 guests at our wedding, and majority of my family is scattered all over the country and couldn’t attend anyway. We only sent wedding invitations to those we know would be attending. I was toying with the idea after we get our wedding photos back to send out some “we tied the knot!” Cards with a few pictures from the wedding to those that couldn’t attend. But I also worry it will seem like I’m fishing for gifts. Do a lot of people do this? Is it tacky?
