Another allergy!!!!!!

I am not 100% sure, but I would say 90% sure he has a shrimp allergy. On top of eggs and PB. We ate shrimp for dinner (not baby). Baby ate sweet potato. I did the cooking. I went to get him ready for bed. Did a baby massage with lotion I have used all the time and then bam. Five minutes later. Hives all over his body where I rubbed the lotion. Washed my hands. Gave him antihistamines. Gave him a bath. 20 min later all gone.

Ugh.

I am going to demand an earlier appointment with the pediatric allergist.

Wah!

Allergies are tough! I have an allergic baby too. We are dairy, soy, egg, chicken, chickpeas/legumes, rice and fish free over here and it’s hard! He’s allergic to different things directly so trialing food is difficult too 🙃 allergist wasn’t too much help for us just recommended formula but I’m still going to breastfeed as long as little man wants!

It could have been sweet potato too. We didn’t think it was possible but our girl had a reaction to avocados and we have been told to stay clear from bananas and sweet potato as all three are natural sources of latex. 🤷‍♀️

Possible, but I am thinking less likely as he didn’t react for the 30 min after he ate it nor react all over his face where he smeared it on himself, and he has eaten it a few times before with no issue. So I am leaning towards the shrimp since he reacted where I rubbed lotion on him (with lotion we have used many times before) within five minutes of application.

If you think it’s shrimp, it’s most likely all shellfish, and in that case most likely iodine too. Just beware! That’s gotta stink mama, I can’t imagine

Oooooo I didn’t know about this iodine thing! Allergies are a whole new world for me. No one in either of our families have them except for some one offs in this generation.

This must be hard. After pb allergy for little one, doc advised us to get rid of pb in the house to avoid contamination. Becoz of LO ‘ s milk allergen too, I read all food labels and don’t take milk products in my food becoz he is breastfed. Hugs, we ve got this mama

That is my guess, which is why I suspect he is a shrimp allergy.
