first cake decorating attempt!

For my boyfriends going-away party for Navy boot camp, I decided to make him a cake and he wanted to help! I want to be a cook/baker so I’ve done cakes before, but this is my first attempt at an actual semi-professional looking decorated cake. We think it turned out alright, considering we only had about two hours and limited supplies!

I wish we could have added writing and the tie for the shirt, as well as the detail in the hat & shirt a little better but hey, I’m still pretty proud 😊 Here’s our reference, which is decorated all with fondant which we didn’t want to use because I think fondant is plain GROSS lol
