Depending if you have teeth out of place, if you get teeth taken out for space you’ll need to wear bands that’ll take a bit to come together. If you have an overbite or underbite you’ll also need them longer. It really depends on how you look after them, if you wear your bands ect you may get them off earlier but if you don’t you’ll need them on for longer. I had mine on for over 2 years.

I had braces on top for 8 months, just because one of my teeth was higher up than the rest.

1.5 years my teeth werent bad buy there was a gap on front teeth and bit crooked on lower ..

I had them for 7 years. My teeth were straight for 90% of that time but my bite was fucked wouldn't fix. It never ended up being fixed so it was just a big waste of time.
