Can anyone please tell me how do you put ur 18 month old to sleep?

I change his room because i will have newborn in few weeks so i started process ewrly with my toddler.  We decorated together started with naps first then added sleeping in. Kept the same routine. But i feel like as older they get more they understand and dont want to be put down alone. So basically. Night routine is 
Dinner , bath, bottlw milk,and crib rub his head and leave the room. Now everytime I leave he cries and cries so i have to keep going in to comfort as soon i come in he put his head down and tryes to sleep.took me an hour today
I just want you u to share what u do as your night routine maybe i can use some help thanks guys

From about 5 months we have been doing:
Milk
Bath
Brush teeth
Book (in bedroom)
Cuddles
Put down in bed, turn music on, leave room, at 7pm
He will usually fall asleep with minimal fuss in about 10 mins.
If he has a wake up in the night (teething/sleep regression/nightmare etc) we find entering his room can cause him to take longer to go back to sleep. I may go in and rub his back sometimes if the crying has really ramped up, but I find letting him cry and eventually settle himself means he won’t be awake for as long as when I enter the room. What I listen for pauses in his crying - as soon as there are pauses, I know that he will be asleep after a few more mins of crying. The longer the pauses get, the closer he is to falling asleep.
There is an 18mth sleep regression, so this might be contributing to what your daughter is going through at the mo?

I got my 18 month old daughter a twin bed since she’s bed shared for the last 8 months so we go in her room about an hour before I plan to have her sleeping, we get in pjs and read books for 30 minutes then I turn her sound machine in and we get in bed she has a DockATot and I lay in bed next to her until she falls alseep (she strokes my arm to sleep) and then I leave. If she wakes at night I do the same thing. I’m also due in a few weeks with our second and just started this transition last week. Before we bed shared she would wake every two hours and take hours to go back to sleep so this is a huge relief that it’s been this easy.

Rocking chair that was a must since day one it helped when I stop breastfeeding to change the whole routine I had for her at night time but sometimes I'll rock a for half an hour sometimes our aquifer an hour or something to fall asleep right away but it has to be consistent in the rocking helps gets that Bond still going and your baby probably feels that there's changes happening to your body and wants to make sure they don't forget it's the babies there for you too

It normally takes me an hour too but it's better than where we were. We get the bath, fix a bottle/cup of milk, turn on the same lullaby video and sit in the rocking chair singing the lullabies while rubbing her head and about 45 minutes to an hour of that and she's out. Used to take me sometimes 3 hours because she hated sleeping and would scream bloody murder. I think it's because I stopped making her try to fall asleep in the crib and have been rocking her to sleep then laying her down. Will probably bite me in the back later on down the road but for right now, she's going to bed at a decent hour and without all the screaming and fighting and we both enjoy the routine cuddle time every night anyway. Rocking chair was the best investment as far as putting all of my kids to bed though, newborn, 18 month, and 4 year.

It used to be easy for me. Bath, story time, a couple quick lullabies, then I'd put him im his crib, put some music on, turn off the lights and leave. He'd fall asleep in minutes. Now after our vacation in Michigan, he couldn't get back into that. So after fighting for so long to get him back on that, I had to change it. I converted his crib to a toddler bed. So now we still do bath, story time, and a couple quick lullabies. Then he goes to lay in his bed, i put his music on and I pat him to sleep in the dark. He gets patted to sleep at daycare for naps, so i thought I'd try that and it works. It takes a little longer though, about 5-15 minutes depending.

Turn on pooh, Say goodnight, kiss him and close the door. Sometimes he fake cries 1-2 minutes but other wise he just says good night and 30 minutes later hes asleep and I can turn the TV off and leave the door open.

We eat dinner, bath (on bath nights), play upstairs til around 6:30, get in PJs, brush teeth, go into bedroom and read 2-5 books, and then down in crib. He almost always “cries” when I walk out, but falls asleep quickly with minimal fuss. It’s my initial leaving the room he does not like. I do not go back in unless he is screaming (very upset crying) or he doesn’t fall asleep within an hr/is seeming very uncomfortable. I will let him whine/babble all he wants til he is able to fall asleep. We try very hard to not go into his room at night after we put him down and it’s worked well for us. He very rarely wakes at night and most of the time when he does he will work it out very quickly for himself.
