Boy confusion

So I really like this man, and we are family friends.. mum has always said to go for him because he’s a good match for me blah blah we have the same interests and we do! So we had dinner at his house with our family’s, and got along fine and we still talk, but he’s just so confusing, he seems interested but then sometimes he leave me on read and he said he will come to my home town in the next couple of weeks, so I don’t know weather I should make more of an effort like message him again asking when or what?? Need help.
