Having a baby shower for second baby, different gender?

My first baby was a baby girl, she'll be three in December and our baby boy is due in late October. Are baby showers a thing for the second child if they're a different gender? My husband says no but I say if people want to spoil our son then let them 🤷

Anything you used for your first baby, you can reuse for your second, regardless of gender. I don’t think it should be expected people buy you gifts again. Even with the same gender, you have to buy all new clothes a lot of times if they’re born in different seasons. I vote a diaper party to just celebrate the 2nd child!

I have gone to several baby showers for peoples 2nd babies in the last few years, and really hoped we would have one, but it never happened.... our baby #2 is 5.5 years younger than our first, and after 5 miscarriages after the birth of our 1st daughter, we had thought it would never happen, so we got rid of a lot of baby things...  so having a party would have been SO helpful! And now that my baby #2 is here, I’ve had people ask why I didn’t have another baby shower... kind of hard to will it into existence, and I’ve been told it’s kind of tacky to throw one for yourself... 
(The most annoying part is that with baby #1, we were living in a different town, and several people on hubbys side mentioned throwing us a party here for their side, but it never happened. My step mom threw us a party in our town, so at least we had one party for that baby...  so now that we live in the same town as his side, I hoped they would offer again for baby #2, especially since it didn’t feel like asking too much, and it had been over 5.5 years, and we needed so much.... but it didn’t happen. (Oh well. No big deal.) But now, the comments from hubbys side of the family, who we see weekly, who never even hinted that they were going to be giving us a gift, are now asking what we need... now that the baby is 3+ weeks old, and I have already bought pretty much everything.)

I'm not doing one and this is my second girl. I got rid of everything from my first because I wasnt planning on having more kids. But, my mom would be the only one invited since i dont have much of a family that's  girls support group. Or friends lol

In my experience, people love babies. And if they love you, they’ll want to celebrate a new baby with you. I had a baby shower for my first (boy) and then another for my second (girl). They were two different genders and 8 years apart (the time is really what helped since I had no baby stuff left). But when I got pregnant with my third child, another girl, and just a year after her sister was born, my family insisted we celebrate this baby just the same. My friends and all of my family came and celebrated. I told people individually as they asked that I didn’t need any gifts, but every single person bought diapers and clothes/toys/books. A baby is a blessing and most people want to celebrate that with the person they care about.

I’m having a baby shower for my second and it’s another girl.. now with that being said, my daughter just turned 6 on the 12th and a lot of stuff that I had for her I gave away or it got messed up over the years because i didn’t think I’d be having another baby. I also decided to have another one because my husbands family wasn’t involved when I got pregnant with our daughter (I got pregnant within a month of meeting him, yes, I know, stupid but I was also 19 and had that young dumb mentality, it won’t happen to me) but here we are 7 years later, a 6 year old little girl and another one on the way..

It’s whatever you want! I personally won’t because I’ve gotten everything I need and more for babies. Like overload of stuff... but if you want and need some things I’d go for it!💕 Congrats!
