PGS or not ?!

My husband and I(both 27) are getting ready for our first IVF cycle, and I keep going back and forth about PGS testing. I have endometriosis and low progesterone, and we’ve already had one miscarriage(natural pregnancy). All of our labs look great and our doctor seems to think we haven’t gotten pregnant again because of the endometriosis. I would love to hear your opinions on PGS testing. We would be paying over $5000 out of pocket and we’re already paying so much 😞

We did PGS and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. We had 4 embryos and transferred 2 in a fresh transfer (so no PGS for those) and then froze and PGS tested the remaining 2. I got pregnant my fresh transfer and it was a blighted ovum. The whole experience was just soul destroying. To go through all of that with IVF and get pregnant, just to lose the baby because something was wrong.
Of the two we tested, only one came back normal. We transferred that one and it stuck. I’m now 35 weeks pregnant.

We PGS tested, and I’m so glad we did- of our 11 embryos, only 5 came back normal. I can’t imagine playing luck of the draw and potentially having transferred those other 6, only to miscarry. To us, the peace of mind was worth the extra cost. We’re now 6.5 weeks 💕 Good luck.

I was 27 and husband was 32 when we went through Ivf. We got 10 embryos and chose to do pgs. It was worth it for peace of mind knowing the babies I will carry will be healthy. 3 out of the 10 were not healthy, so that alone was worth the money for testing. Also after how emotionally exhausting going through Ivf is in the first place, doing anything to have less chance of a miscarriage was worth it!

I’m 34 and husband 30. No history or miscarriages and been pregnant naturally. We Tested 9 embryos and 2 were chromosomally abnormal. 
They were also “perfect” looking embryos and graded 1-1 by embryologist so had I not done pgs they would have been one of the first ones put in. 
It is Worth the expense to know you are not implanting an abnormal embryo which won’t stick or end in miscarriage ... if it does it will also cost you more in doing another transfer. It also enables you to work with numbers to build your family so you realistically know how many you have. The pgs testing will also tell you the grading ie) transfer a, b,c,d so you can choose the best. Embryo. The embryo grading is purely cosmetic, the pgs looks at it in a lot more depth and ranks the embryo. Xx

100% I would do it again, and mine was almost 8k. 
We tested 10 embryos, the embryologist grades then all just by looking at them- but they are all biopsies and sent out. The three “best looking” all tested abnormal. If we didn’t test they would have implanted those, one by one, and I probably would still not be pregnant. 
Miscarriages are devastating. The joy and excitement of finding out your are pregnant is short lived and maintains a constant presence in your mind for the next pregnancies. I had one before we started ivf and I’m so glad we did everything we could to prevent another one.
I’m currently 28 weeks with a boy.

My doc doesn’t recommend pgs unless you’re way older or have a specific reason to be concerned about abnormalities (like recurrent miscarriage or really bad sperm). She also said there’s a lot of conflicting research on if it’s really getting rid of only bad embryos or possibly might be rejecting good embryos. We’re not planning to do pgs on our embryos because I would rather have a miscarriage than miss out on a good embryo. Now, if I had lots of money and I get lots of embryos (like 8+), I might consider it.

I had two missed miscarriages from natural pregnancies before doing IVF. All our tests came back normal so doctor suggested PGS because that seemed like it would have been the issue. Of our 8 embryos 6 were normal. Which is pretty standard ir maybe even a little better. After going through miscarriages though I’m thankful I didn’t have to worry about having another that could have been avoided. Also I figure if we had transferred one of those and miscarried it would have cost us several thousand dollars as well as emotional pain and more waiting. The PGS gave me a tiny bit peace of mind. I still freak out every day is this pregnancy, but I feel like some things are more in my control. I’m 29w3d now. When we collected our eggs I was: almost 30 and husband was almost 29.

We needed IVF due to azoospermia; I had no issues and we used donor sperm. We did IVF in February and didn’t do PGS testing, nor did our RE recommend it. Worked first go with a fresh transfer, currently 23 weeks with 3 more on ice.

I’m 29 and husband is 33. We started our first IVF in May and decided to do PGS! We tested 10 embryos and 4 of them came back abnormal. We now have 6 genetically normal embryos frozen waiting for transfer once we complete our ERA test this month. After all the money you’re already investing, I believe it’s worth the extra cost. 100% yes.  We have invested way too much money and time to risk transferring a genetically abnormal embryo.  Our doc also prefers frozen transfer, so why not.  The only way we would have not tested was if we only had 1 or 2 embryos, then we would have gone all-in with those.
