Does the story of Robin Hood teach a good lesson?

So, my kids were watching the story of Robin Hood today and it occurred to me that some parents might object to it basically teaching that it’s heroic to break the law as long as it’s for a good cause or to fight an injustice. So, I was wondering if you think story of Robin Hood teaches a good lesson or a bad one.

Additionally, I’d be curious to know whether a you think he should face the legal consequences for his actions. What about a modern day Robin Hood? Would you be supportive of a vigilante that regularly and repeatedly stole (the old-fashioned way, not through policy or politics) from the government and gave it to the poor?
