Review your IUD experience, please?

Hey y’all! Could you please help me out and 
-Tell me how your period was BEFORE you got the IUD and what it was like AFTER it was placed? 
-How do you like your IUD? 
-WHICH one do you have? 
-Pros/Cons???
Info: my periods were pretty normal, then I had my son 3 years ago and ever since I’ve been getting my period every two weeks and they each last a week and are very heavy! 
-the depo made me bleed everyday heavy for 6 months 
-the patch stopped working for me after a year 
-the pill just doesn’t work for me period
I’m scared the IUD will make me spot or bleed like the depo did, but I need something I don’t need to worry about everyday.

I was on the pill for several years and had crazy bad mood swings so I stopped that for a year or so before getting the iud. In the interim my period was about 5 days and medium, I rotated every other month I either had mood swings or cramping a few days before she showed. 
After getting the iud which was actually pretty painful, (I wished I had taken the afternoon off work that day but was fine the next.) my periods were up to 7 days long (sometimes only 4 but usually longer) but much lighter flow, a lot of days I didn’t need more than a liner. Mood swings were minimal as were cramps and those would come during my period instead of prior to. I only had one month during the 3 years that I had horrible cramping enough to keep me home from work. I lay on the floor on a hot water bottle for most of the day I was so miserable. Oh and I had been warned about cramping for the first six weeks. I did cramp for 6 full weeks but it was no worse than my regular period cramping it just got irritating after the first week lol. All things considered I would get one again and really liked not having to worry about taking a pill every day and knowing that I could take it out at any point and be able to start ttc right away was also a plus for me

I loveeeeeeeed my IUD (now actively TTC). I was on the pill before hand and had 0 period but made my hormones all over the place. I had the Skyla IUD and after my hormones started balancing out I got a very light period that was significantly less painful than before I was on any BC. Plus it helped a ton to stabilize my moods ☺️

I had Mirena and I LOVED it. My periods before were awful, super heavy, cramping to the point of vomiting, just terrible. After the first year on Mirena I completely lost my period and that was fantastic. It did get a little unnerving since I was having unprotected sex, so I took a pregnancy test every few months just to put my mind at ease. 
I had it inserted while I was on my period, which I think make it easier. The first like 3 months I had pretty bad cramping, but after that no problems at all.

Hi. I had the IUD mirena. The first 5 years I had it I had zero issues. I never got a period, maybe some spotting every once in a while. Zero pregnancy scares.
After the 5 years was up I went into a new obgyn ( I got my 1st IUD when I was away for college) got another one put it. I had no period again. But i went after the first year or so to get it checked and they said they could not find the string.  I had to get in for an ultra sound. They found it but it had shifted a little. The DR said no big deal but it freaked me out. I went a few weeks later to have it taken out and it was extremely painful. I had to go back a week later to the hospital,  get put to sleep and have it removed. 
Idk if the second time I put it in maybe the DR cut the string too short or something.
So I would say I loved having the IUD, if it wasnt for the 2nd round being such a pain in the ass I would have zero issues ot negatives. I would say if you do it just make sure you are always going in on time to check your strings . Hope this helps.

Periods before iud were so heavy i bled thru an tra tampon, largest they make, in 3 hours flat. If i didnt change it id bleed thru my clothes so i had to wear an overnight pad at the same time. 7 days long. Cramps so painful i had to miss work and school the first 2 days on the floor crying after taking max amount of painkillers thru out the day and a heating pad. 
Ive tried pills and depo. Nothing helped.
I have the mirena iud. Had it a year now. Periods stopped after month 4. I love it. We dont use condoms or pull out and i havent gotten pregnant.
