I’m lost

I’m 33 and just had my left ovary removed due to an enlarged dermoid cyst. My doctor says my right will take over and ovulate every month and not to worry. I don’t have any kids and I want babies but since I had an ovary removed doesn’t that cut my chances to 50%. We are going to try and conceive soon but I don’t know where to start. August marks 1 year I’ve been off birth control (I was on it since I was 15). I’ve downloaded many apps and every app tells me I ovulate on different days. I work nights and so I sleep during the day will that count against me too?
