Some gynos are more blunt than others. I see you are 18, that’s probably why.

They just offer me testing at every visit. You’re in a certain age bracket where contraction rates are high so she’s just doing her due diligence, especially if you’re having unprotected sex. Better to have a doctor who cares than one who doesn’t! 
I was with my ex for 3 years and having unprotected sex with him. My doctor at the time did counsel me on safe sex as it is technically required by ACOG to include STD counseling in a well visit. The ex cheated on me (was also hiding IV drug use for a couple weeks before I caught on) and contracted HIV, but luckily I tested negative. It was a really rough year because it can take 6+ months to show up on a blood test. It’s been 7 years now though and thank goodness I didn’t get it.
