Should I be able to feel teeth?

My son clearly has teeth and I see them, but I can’t feel them. I thought I felt one earlier but I haven’t been able to feel it since then. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My pediatrician just pointed out that if gums are hard then the teeth are in there. Use clean or gloved finger and you can tell
