Anyone has experience with the copper iud? Would you recommend it or is the hormonal iud better?

I’ve been largely happy with my copper for the last 3 years! Other than checking the strings position every once in a while, I hardly even think about it. The biggest adjustment for me was that it made my flow heavier than it was before, and I also get pretty nasty cramps two days of the month. I’m unable to take ibuprofen or other drugs like it though, so I mostly just have to tough it out, whereas someone who can take ibuprofen would likely be fine. I’m so, so happy to not be on hormones anymore as they had negative effects on me long term.

Love the copper one! It's been great plus I used to get the worst hormonal side effects from the pill I never wanted to try the hormonal ones. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.

Form my understanding the copper IUD is nice since it lasts up to 10 years but has a significantly higher rate of pregnancy than a hormonal IUD. If you breastfeed / pump I was exclusively pumping when I had my hormonal IUD placed and nothing happened to my milk supply. I like mine!
