Difference between family practice and internal medicine doctors?

So I’m in need of a new primary doctor this will be the first time finding a doctor on my own. My current doctor is a family practice doctor but the new location I’m looking at has internal medicine doctors. So what are the differences between them? Would an internal medicine doctor fit my needs for primary care?

In my experience, an "internal medicine" Dr is only for adults, vs a "family practice" Dr can do both adults & children. If you are looking for a Dr just for you, either will work. If you are hoping to have the same Dr for your whole family, then you'd want s family practitioner.
