Bit of a sleep rant
I know I’m being a snowflake here but I need to get this out before I explode to someone in my real life. Why is sleep the holy grail of parenting? Every man and his dog love to ask questions like ‘is he a GOOD baby?’ and ‘is she sleeping through the night YET?’. Does that make my baby BAD because he doesn’t? No, she doesn’t YET and neither do the majority of babies her age. And then they’re not satisfied with just asking those questions. They then go on to tell me (not suggest, TELL me) what I should do differently, implying it’s my fault or that my baby needs to be ‘fixed’. If I was complaining AND asking for your suggestions by all means tell me what worked for you. But I didn’t ask, you did. I didn’t complain about lack of sleep, merely answered your loaded question. But even if I did say wow, I’m tired, why not just ask how can I help, or say this will pass, or encourage me by saying you’re doing a great job.
Thanks for reading so I could let of some steam. It feels better getting that out. Wondering if anyone else feels the same. Love and light to all.
