Has anyone ever had post partum depression towards the dog? I’m so scared I’m going to hate her when the baby comes. But she’s been so sweet, especially since I’ve gotten bigger.

But everyone is different 🤷🏼‍♀️ i guess? Give yourself time and dont scare yourself in to thinking it will happen.

My dog and cat are members of the family, they're my first babies. I don't foresee it being an issue if you think of them in that way.

I’ll be odd man out here. My dog drives me insane. Him and my toddler terrorize each other and he just drives me absolutely bananas most days. He’s 11 years old. Of course I still love him but there are some days it would be nice having one less thing to take care of.🤷🏼‍♀️

I warn all of my friends that they WILL feel differently towards their pets when the baby comes... I know, I know... everyone says that their dogs are their babies, but just being honest! I had a hard time with all of my pets adjusting to the baby and my 10 year old chihuahua was the absolute hardest! She actually ended up HATING my son and biting him on numerous occasions, became completely reclusive and very jealous. My mom ended up taking her. Not that we wouldn’t have just kept her and made it work out one way or another, but she is so much happier with my mom than she would have ever been with a baby. Her lifestyle is just better for her. We still have 2 other dogs and a cat and they all adjusted really well, but there were definitely some hard times! Sometimes things just aren’t what you hope they would be

My dog is currently driving me crazy. Lol. I have a feeling he will after birth too. He’s loud and I’m going to be annoyed when he wakes the baby. But he’s family so he’s here for good. I just might sleep upstairs in the babies room for a while and the dog can sleep downstairs like usual.

My advice for most people is do not get a puppy while pregnant if you're not up to deal with the consequences, and be understanding that older dogs are going to be grouchy. Specially if it's a small dog which they tend to have a shorter temperament than largerdogs. Also make sure your dog is use to baby movements. Play rough with them and teach them it's just playing, discipline them when they try to bite etc. Pull their ears, paws and tails, cause babies will do that and if they're not use to it it'll be a nuisance for you and the dog. In other words "baby proof" the dog is much as you can, put baby crying noises. Teach not to jump, it's all on how you teach them. I have 5 big dogs and I'm currently 6 months pregnant. You also have to create a "safe space" for your dog, so whenever hes done playing he or she can go there.

I got a puppy when I was 4 months pregnant 3 years ago (bad idea just FYI 🤣🤣🤣) after I had the baby I really disliked the dog. She barked. She peed on the floor. It was just a bit fat pain in the ass. I was so tired and she would bark at a damn leaf and wake the whole house up from a nap. Once I got through the newborn phase and my hormones leveled out I stopped being so psycho 🤣 but honestly, my husband is for sure her “person” I lover her and she’s been the best companion she is so sweet the the kids. Still barks a lot 🙄 but that’s just who she is haha I should’ve never gotten a puppy while pregnant but hey, ya live and learn! And she’s turned out to be a great member of the family!

Eh, kind of. My dog is a menace. Pees everywhere. Pees on my daughter’s stuff. He’s a 4 lb Pomeranian so it’s never a LOT of pee but he’s such a little asshole sometimes. It was easier to deal with his nonsense when I didn’t have a tiny human making messes everywhere all the time too. The kid is like another pet. It’s definitely tested my patience. I would never mistreat my pets or re-home them, but I’m definitely not getting another dog when mine passes away (he’s only 8 and pomeranians live a pretty long time, so it’ll be a while...)
