Is this reasonable to ask my boyfriend?

My boyfriend loves going on fancy dates, and don’t get me wrong I do too, but it’s just so expensive! Money isn’t particularly a problem for either of us atm, but I prefer to keep a tight budget. My bf, on the other hand, likes to spend. So when we go on dates he orders lots of drinks, multiple appetizers, 3 entrees, lots of dessert, etc. for the both of us to share. We have never finished the food because he orders so much. He just likes to try a bit of everything really. At the end of the date, we end up splitting the bill (and that’s how I prefer it).

Now we have our next date night coming up this Friday and I was wondering if you think it’s reasonable to ask him to ease up on how much he orders. I just don’t want to spend $100-$150 each on food that barely gets touched because he orders so much! I feel like by asking this, I’m taking away the enjoyment for him. What do you think? Also— if it’s okay to ask, how do I bring it up? What do I say?
