Self soothing
My bub is 10m old now and for the past few weeks I have noticed, specifically at bedtime, she doesnt want to nurse to sleep.
First nap she will nurse to sleep no problem. Second nap is a bit more of a battle and she pops off a few times before finally nursing to sleep. (Sometimes shes not tired enough)
Bedtime though, (and we've ruled out any regression or strike or teething, etc..) this past week especially, she has nursed, pushes away from the boob, eyes closed, and will keep fidgeting on me/in my arms like she cant get comfy, I've laid her down and patted her bum, and twice shes conked out right away one time she crawled back onto me and I patted her bum and she fell asleep. But some nights it's taking over an hour of this.. nurse, crawl around... her crib is attached to our bed, as she nurses twice usually throughout the night. Is this a sign she is trying to self soothe?
If so, I feel there's still a ways to go, but not sure how to go about it. Trial and error. She isn't over or undertired, just not interested in the boob at bedtime to fall asleep, but then she seems like she cant get comfy and squirms non stop, which just wakes her up too much & then shes wide awake again and wants to play, so we repeat..nurse, squirm, bum pats, cuddles, rocking (I haven't tried standing up to rock her though?) And eventually she falls asleep.
Advice, tips or tricks? 🙂
