Random question: when did you start wearing makeup and why?

I noticed in the "popular" posts a poll about what age it is appropriate for girls to start wearing makeup. As I now have a daughter I'm realizing it's something I'll be faced with so I'd like to hear different opinions. 
I started makeup at 12 years because I thought it was like, my step into womanhood. I didn't do it to fit in or anything, I just wanted to wear makeup like the girls on TV 😅 When I think about it, 12 might have been too young, maybe 14 is more appropriate? Maybe just mascara and foundation  while she's in Junior high? What do you guys think?

I started wearing mascara and lip gloss in college and I wore my first full face make up on my graduation 😂😂 now I wear tinted moisturizer here and there and full face when I’m going on date/wedding parties. I’m obsessed with skin care maybe that’s why I didn’t start early, my mom didn’t wear make up that much but she were face mask all week.

Omg I was just thinking/talking about this with my SO cause my niece just got a cell phone for graduating elementary (5th grade) at 11. We were talking about things we did at that age and how kids are exposed to a lot more sooner with social media. I was trying to remember when I started wearing makeup cause we still see her as a little girl but she’s becoming a teen. I told him I started wearing eyeshadow (caboodles?) in like 6th grade. No foundation or powder probably until middle school or high school.

I started wearing makeup at 15, and by 18 I had a routine of only doing my eyebrows, mascara and maybe eyeshadow. Foundation can ruin your skin in my opinion. I never had good skin when I wore it and it made my face feel gross. It took like 3 months for my face to finally feel normal/no acne after years of wearing foundation.

I started wearing mascara in the fourth grade periodically. Eyeliner and mascara full time by eight grade. Slowly worked into foundation and blush around the same time. Still too this day just to make myself feel like I made an effort I’ll at least throw on some mascara and curl my lashes hahah didn’t do the whole fancy eyeshadow until after collage 🤷🏼‍♀️ but people didn’t do much outside of frosted color eyes or  highlighted back in the day.

I started wearing eyeliner in grade 8, so like 13? I over did it because it was all I was “allowed” to wear lol I didn’t start ACTUALLY wearing makeup until I was 16/17 and I’m 28 how and use it very rarely use it.
