Period or not

Stopped birth control three weeks ago,was bleeding on them heavily and very often so doctor ordered me to stop taking birth control for the next 5 months....saying I should give it a break since I have been experiencing this bleeding issue for the past two years...I started having cramps yesterday,head aches,bloating and feeling extremely miserable just the way I felt while on my real period before I got pregnant....and this morning I started having light bleeding and now its coming a bit hard...could this be my period or not??I am not sure what to think anybody been through this before???
