Breastfeeding/pumping tips and tricks?!

Question

Hello ladies! I am pregnant with my second baby. My first I tried to breastfeed and I didn’t have enough knowledge on breastfeeding and it didn’t go well for me. So I pumped instead and that went well!
If anyone has any breastfeeding tips or advice or on pumping please let me know!
I’m trying this again, and hoping to do better!

I used nipple shields due to poor latch bubs mouth to small my nipples huge lol this helped out a lit til 3 weeks til I could completely ween off the shield
I also pumped after every feed til about 8 weeks went down a pump session til now only doing the first two morning feeds have an awesome stash in the deep freezer 
I also have kept up one bottle of breastmilk a day so bubs does not refuse the bottle later on also gives me a break and husband gets that nice bonding time with baby 
Moogoo mudder udder balm love this nipple cream and multi-mam compresses are the best at healing your nipples if they become sore and cracked 
This is how I will be doing it with my next baby just be way more confident about it Good luck hope some of this helped

My best advice is stay hydrated, eat well, keep taking prenatals, sleep as well as you can, skin to skin, nurse on demand. Pump/ hand express if baby sleeps through a feed. Remember what you pump is not your supply- babies are more efficient at the breast. If baby has enough wet/ dirty diapers and gaining weight at appts then they are getting enough milk. I got a hakaa this time around - I’ve heard good things about it so I’m excited to use that. I also use washable breast pads- the disposables gave me rashes. And if it don’t work out for you- don’t beat yourself up- formula is not evil 💜

I would say bring nipple cream and maybe gel pads or ice packs to the hospital.
I used these

To get you through initial discomfort.
Reach out to a lactation consultant if they are available and not just at the hospital.
I met with one 2 weeks PP and she does follow up calls which has helped a ton.
