First appointment with fertility doc

My husband and I have been TTC for 4 years with no luck. We kept blowing it off the last few years that it’s all the stress we have in our lives and stuff until finally we realized, we’re gonna be old and this is NOT normal.

I’ve always been a heavy girl. Always a size 14/16. I honestly didn’t think anything of it in terms of going to a fertility specialist. My OBGYN said I’m not so overweight as for it to be a concern about getting pregnant.

Well yesterday I went to the doc and they said they would not treat me until I lost 35 pounds. I was devastated. Not because I need to lost the weight, that’s fine. I can lose weight. But they won’t even start any kind of treatment?? Is this normal for someone my size?

She simply put me on progesterone every other month ( and didn’t do more then tell me to take it every other month, no details. Like WHEN do I take them??) and said she would check in, in 8 weeks?

Should I just look for another clinic?
