How much water is safe to give a 8 month old?

I just read that babies under 12 months are not really reccomend to drink water. But can occasionally have no more than 2oz.

Breastmilk or formula are really the only necessary and recommended liquids before 1.
My Ped said we could offer no more than 2oz of water with solids if we were all eating a meal together, but I just offered breastmilk in a cup then.

A sip. Not sure why you would really want to give a baby that age more than a sip anyway.

Breastmilk or formula already has enough water in it for your babies needs. If an ounce or two here and there as needed for constipation, that’s fine, but too much can be dangerous for babies.

No water before 6 months. After 6 months you can offer water in a sippy cup. Helps them learn to use the cup and used to water. No more than a few oz a day. Water is filling and will take away from the nutrition they require for proper physical growth and brain development. If breastfeeding your body adjust water content in hot weather to make sure baby stays hydrated.
