Maternity leave pay vent!
So I got a new job on 4/15. Found out I was pregnant at doctor on 5/8. My benefits, short term disability and insurance all started on 5/1. I just found out that I will not be getting a paid maternity leave because pregnancy is considered a pre existing condition if you became pregnant within the “ month look back” period. So medical records show a confirmation with no other documentation until 5/8. How can they hold that against me? I didn’t know before I quit my job with better benefits that I was pregnant. It’s not like I just got a job for benefits. I am so beyond livid that companies deny a pregnant woman a paid leave. It’s not even that great, 50
Percent for 5 weeks. It’s just so irritating. Anyone else had to fight for paid leave?
And I want to add, I’m a nurse. It blows my mind the healthcare system in America, even for medical professionals. I can’t wait until they just deny my insurance coverage too for all the doctor and hospital bills because it was pre existing.
