Fair to ask people to get vaccine?

we are already limiting the amount of people we are going to allow to visit us and  baby in the hospital once she is born (our parents, siblings and a couple close friends) but baby will be born in November. I am getting the TDAP shot as well as my hubby. I know its my baby’s well being and therefore my choice but I just want a general consensus if it’s fair to ask our parents and the couple of close friends to get the shot as well? TIA 🙂

My baby was born in January and I asked all immediate family to get vaccinated. If not then they weren’t invited. Simple. Your baby your rules, mama.

I think you can ask friends who haven’t gotten the shot not to visit, but I personally think it’s out of line to ask someone to get a vaccine.

Your parents- yes. Your friends- no. We had a friend tell us to get the shot to see her kid, so we chose not to see the kid, which was totally fine. I have an autoimmune disease so I didn’t want to risk a weird reaction for someone else’s child (I will for my own). Let them know the rules to see your baby, if they want to get a shot they will.

I wouldn’t go that route. But what I would do is make an announcement on your social media to please not hold or come close to the baby if they have been sick with anything at all,even a runny nose. And to please wash their hands before touching the baby and don’t grab tHe babies hands (cause they go to their mouths), & no kissing or touching the babies face or getting right in the babies face! Just put that in the nicest way possible as a general announcement on social media! We did that when our baby was born and people were pretty respectful of our rules and no hurt feelings since it was a general statement!
