So back in April, we decided to try to buy a house. We got approved, found the perfect house, and were ready to close next week. We got a call today saying the bank decided to deny us because we paid for our earnest money with a money order that we paid cash for. We were never told it would even be an issue until now.

Our lease ran out in June so we were staying with my MIL until closing. We've been sleeping on her couch and the entire time has been miserable. But it was all going to be worth it because we were finally going to close next week. All for nothing. Plus the thousands we already put into inspections and whatnot. Now we have to find a place to live. We were reallllly counting on this. I'm so heartbroken I can't stop crying. We have a 1 year old and the new baby will be here in Nov. We have nothing for the new baby. We were waiting and going to have a baby shower in the new house, but now we don't even have a place for that. Now we have to worry about finding a new place to live, planning a whole new baby shower, and still need to get EVERYTHING for the new baby. Not to mention I'm high risk.

Plus our previous landlords are taking us to court for $5000 because they said we did a whole shit ton of damages WHICH WE DIDN'T and don't have proof. So now nobody is going to rent to us. What the fuck are we supposed to do? 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Edited to remain anonymous: we paid the earnest money with a money order using cash. We weren't told that this would be an issue. They needed to be able to verify where the funds came from as cash isn't an accepted form of funds (we weren't told this before we paid the earnest money). We got the cash from our income tax that we were saving on our turbo prepaid tax card. We withdrew it at an atm way in the beginning and held onto it because we were having issues with the card. We got the card statements like the bank wanted so we can verify where the funds came from and they wouldn't accept it so they denied us last minute. The underwriter said we held onto the money for too long so it won't work. The purchase & sales agreement has been terminated and they're sending the money back
