Baby shower to do or not to do...?

We live close to my husbands family, my family lives in another country.

My MIL wants to throw a baby shower because all of her friends have thrown for their sons and daughter in law as to celebrate, and she would love to do it for us .

My husband is happy to have a joint baby shower... honestly though I’d prefer to have no baby shower at all...

We got married last year and my MIL threw me a bridal shower being again my family is in a different country.... it was quite awkward for me.... it was like 50 of her friends most of whom I had not met but where invited to the wedding, and while the gesture was a lovely one I just felt like it was a celebration for her and not really me. I feel the baby shower will go the same way even if it is coed, it will be more of a celebration for the grandparents to be instead of the parents.....

Any advise welcome....

I know it’s very helpful to get baby gifts from people but I feel like this would just turn out to being all about the grandparents.

Should I just let my MIL have her fun and roll with it.... one afternoon can’t be to bad and she would be hosting the event.

My husband and I have already planned to host a sip and see/baby naming once the baby is here to celebrate our new little one.
