Pooping

My son will be a month old on Thursday. He is exclusively on my breast milk but bottle fed because he never latched. He only poops about once a day...is that normal or should he be going more often? He does has pee diapers multiple times an hour though. Every morning he does wake up moaning and grunting and he does appear constipated and his stomach is very hard. What can I do?

Breastfed babies can go upto 10days without pooping and that’s totally normal nothing to be concerned about. My little girl went from pooping every nappy change as a newborn to a few weeks old pooping once every 3days.. If babies straining to poop and is crying constantly that’s when you should be concerned. But you can try stomach massages and bicycle legs.. as long as baby having lots of wet nappies I wouldn’t worry hun 😊 once they start solids they poop a lot again 👍🏻

Also the reason why they don’t poop so often as formula fed babies is because there body digests it better so they less waste to poop out 😊

Our baby wakes up grunting and straining every morning (also breastfeed, 6 weeks old) between 4-6. Apparently this is common as it's their gut starting to work for the day and it makes them think they have a pool to push out (when they done -- my LO has his first poop of the day after his 7/8am feed. Gonna double check with the doctor as his check up tomorrow though.
