“I only take advice from people who I’d want my life to be like.”

One of my friends said this the other day on Facebook. It makes a lot of sense to me, because I feel like you’d get further to where you want to go if you follow people who have already made it.

Example - asking about relationship advice from someone who appears to be in a happy marriage, as opposed to your single friend.

On the other hand, I have gotten some pretty good advice from people who aren’t where I want to be, simply because they’ve made mistakes in their life and have learned from them. A divorced man/woman might have a better idea at making a marriage work opposed to a happy married couple because they’ve been there and realized their mistakes. So what do you guys think?
