Quick question

This is my first time using birth control pills. I went to planned parenthood and the nurse told me to start birth control the Sunday after my period. She then also told me that I have to be on birth control for 2 weeks in order to be protected. I called planned parenthood & a lady told me that after 7 days of being on the pill I’ll be protected. I’m confused as to when I will be protected ?
