When did you hear heartbeat?

Just took a test and it’s positive. I know the next step is to make an appointment. I’m wondering at what week do you hear the baby’s heart beat? I should be around 5 weeks but I’ve heard that’s to early to hear it? After two miscarriages i feel like I wanna get in ASAP but I don’t wanna go to early before I’m able to hear the heartbeat bc I know that’ll just freak me out so when did you ladies first go to the doc and did y’all hear the heart then?

I saw my second babys heartbeat at 6 weeks

Heartbeat starts once the fetal pole is 5mm, that's about 6 weeks gestation. It's common to not see/hear it until 8 weeks though.

Congratulations! Your doctor will tell you when they want to see you when you call to schedule the first visit.  Yes, 5 weeks would definitely be too early. The first OB visit and ultrasound are usually performed between 8 and 10 weeks.  Your doctor may not try to detect the heartbeat with doppler yet at that point because the baby is still so small and it might just make you anxious if they can't find it (mine won't even try until after 12 weeks), but you'd be able to see the heart flickering on ultrasound at that point and they could tell you what the heart rate is.

I saw it during my first u/s (which I had at 6w3d due to bleeding) but didn't hear it until my 12 weeks appointment

I saw my first heart beat at 6w exactly but my doctor wouldn’t allow me to heart the heartbeat until I was out of the first trimester but I’ve heard of people hearing it anytime between 8-10weeks the first time.

My first appointment wasn't until 10 weeks (with my second) and we got to have a ultrasound and hear her heartbeat. Our drs office doesn't do appointments until 8-12 weeks.
